How To Find Your Million Dollar Idea!
Nov 1st, 2007 by Gina Gaudio-Graves
I recently sent an email to my list. In it, I talked about ideas. So many have written asking me to resend that message, that I’ve decided to post it
here on my blog for all to enjoy!
Good luck finding YOUR million dollar idea!
“The air is full of ideas.
They are knocking you in the head all the time!”
Henry Ford
I’m sure you’ve heard that old saying that “ideas are a dime a dozen”.
For some, finding profitable ideas comes easily. These are usually the people who are millionaires already.
For others, finding that perfect idea can be a challenge. These are usually people who try one thing, move to another, and rarely ever reach a goal.
Sure, there are a few people that are in between these two categories. These are the people who are working 9 to 5 jobs and happy to be there. They aren’t the “idea people”.
They are the workers and they do damned good work. Without them, few people would ever reach their millionaire status from implementing their million d’ollar ideas.
Regardless of which of these 3 categories you fall into, you’re going to reach the time when you need (or want) to find a new idea for SOMETHING!
Maybe you want to redecorate the house.
Maybe you want to re-landscape your yard.
Maybe you have some big “problem” that you need a
solution to.
Maybe you want to create a new product.
What will you do to find your idea?
Everywhere I go, I keep a small notebook with me. It’s a special notebook.
One side of the paper has graph paper on it. The other side has lined paper.
The notebook is made by Cambridge and I purchase it at Walgreens for about $3. It has 80 yellow pages in it. I’ve used so many of these notebooks over the years! They’re my “idea books”. You can see this at:
http://www.askggg.com/notebook
(That’s not an affiliate link! Just a handy way to show you the notebook!)
In my purse, I always have the following tools:
… Pencil
… Black Pen
… Red Pen
… Ruler
Whenever I’m sitting in the car (I don’t drive, so I’m always a passenger), talking to my husband at dinner (we eat out 7 days a week), waiting to get into an appointment …
I’m ALWAYS drawing, doodling, jotting down notes, plans, lists, flowcharts, etc.
It’s rare for me to be stumped for an idea because I have THOUSANDS of pages of these notes & drawings that I can look back to when I need an idea.
While sitting in a restaurant recently, I happend to see the cover of a local magazine that had a great listing of “idea joggers” on it.
Maybe one of these will help you come up with that perfect idea for yourself as well!

“Where will you find YOUR million dollar idea?”
Take a long drive going nowhere.
Dare yourself until you scare yourself.
Make your own face book of self portraits.
Collect scraps, ephemera, odds and ends to brew a “Creative Stew”.
Mind map a problem or a pipe dream.
Flowchart EVERYTHING! Every step of every process.
Every piece of every puzzle!
Roam outside your range … explore quarks, reincarnation, Louis IV, Louise Brooks movies, Siberian nomads, Jungian archetypes.
Don’t leave home without a blank page.
Turn off streaming video / tune into stream-of-consciousness.
Make something with your hands to give your left brain a rest.
Go shopping when you’re stuck.
Be a list maker …
… of memorable meals
… what you’ve lost
… all things blue
… the best days of your life.
Ignore nay-sayers and They-sayers.
Free associate.
Hang out with outsiders.
Form a mastermind group of like minded individuals.
Hit mute more often.
Be open to Enlightenment in the driveway,
Astonishment at your desk,
Inspiration at the supermarket.
Work til it hurts.
Always be en route to Eureka!

That isn’t EXACTLY what it said in the newspaper article. I’ve added a few of my own “idea generators” to the list as well.
I can tell you from my own personal experience …
These idea joggers work!
The KEY to coming up with a profitable idea?
Well, there are 2 actually:
1) Think OUTSIDE the box. Don’t come up with the same old thing that everyone else is doing. Be unique!
2) On the internet today, CONTENT is the KEY to everything! It’s THE KEY to …
Building Relationships.
Building a list.
Driving Traffic.
And in the end, making m’oney.
When you have GREAT content, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING else is possible using the power of the internet!
After all, it’s called the “information super highway” for a reason, right?
That’s all that content is … information!
My friend, Jonathan Leger, shares his “secret resource” for getting GREAT content for practically nothing, in his $1 Idea Report. You’ll find it at:

Stay tuned for more ideas for generating short term & long termm success!

P.S. In my next post, I’ll share with you the million dollar idea that star copywriter, Carl Galletti, came up with after reading my email & Jonathan’s One Dollar Idea that I shared with you above. Make sure that you share your million dollar idea with me in a comment!
